MCLAREN ALVIN A fUCH?. MAN CAP'A' CHIEF OF POLICE LENDEL H H01-9d LAW CAPIA14, Central Intelligence Agency Washington, D. C. 20505 Logistics Services Division IRf:1t1 /~ SATINTL With the current high rates of vandalism and crimes of violenre, an increasing number of banks, retail establishments, and governmental agencies are beginning to use bullet resistant glazing materials (so called "bullet proof" glass) for the protection of their employees and assets. It has been our experience that many consumers are being misled as to the actual capabilities of certain types of bullet resistant material, and are occasionally investing large sums of mon-=y into an installation that often offers little or no protection from the higher powered handguns, shotguns, and rifles. In hopes of providing your organization with an objective assess- ment of available materials, the Arlington County Police Department. with the assistance of the Fairfax County Police Department, and the General Electric Company, will sponsor a demonstration of bullet resistant glazing materials on Monday, August 30, 1976 (rain date August 31). The demonstration will be held at the Fairfax County P*-d ce Range at 10:30 AM and at 2:00 PM. During the Course of this .demonstra- tion, we will shoot at various types and thicknesses of, glazing with the .38 special, .357 magnum, 9mm. luger, .44 magnum, 12 gauge shotgun, and high powered rifle. Those attending will then be able to examen:_ the effects of these various types of ammunition, and may ask questi)r:s of the glazing specialists. who will be present through the courtesy of the General Electric Company. The GE Company states that the presenta- tion will be free of commercial sales pitches. A.free buffet luncheon will be served from 12 noon to 1:30 PM. Please call the Arlington County Police Department at the below tele- phone number by Wednesday, August 25 to advise. if you will attend and the number of people you intend to bring. We are looking forward to seeing you on August 30. Sincerely, Roy C.
