Subject: Proposed Text of the Director Before the Senate Armed
Services Committee.
1. At your request I have read your porposed text of the
Director's testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee
on 5758.
2. You know best what is required, in my opinion for
most purposes this sort of statement should be ten and not twenty
pages,
3. I have circled those words to which I object.
i.. I have question-marked those sections raising doubt in
m?y mind, either as to their meaning or their appropriateness. :I
have parenthesized those words, sections, anti paragraphs which I
think should be omitted. I think you have missed a bet by not
emphasizing the degree to which this country was required to lean
on the British intelligence at the beginning of the war.
