Mr. MoRSEintroduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred
To amend the National Security Act of 1947 to provide for
a single executive department for the operation- and admin-
istration of the. Army, the Navy, and the Air Force; and
to give the Secretary of Defense adequate power to enable
him to formulate and place in operation integrated program
for the national security.
1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-
2 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
3 That the National Security Act of 1947 is hereby amended
4 to read as follows :
5 "SHORT TITLE
6 "That this Act may be cited as the `National Security
7 Act of 1947'.
