Oswald-, the CIA, and the Mafia
MARGARET SOMERS: Some names perennially crop up in
the news, and Lee Harvey Oswald is one of those.
Steve North spoke with Oswald's mother.
STEVE NORTH: Ever since the day of President John F.
Kennedy's assassination, November 22nd, 1963, Mrs. Oswald had
insisted that her son was an innocent patsy, a victim of a con-
spiracy, as was the President. It was not until 1979 that the
House Assassinations Committee agreed with her, in part, that
there had been a conspiracy, although it considered Oswald to
be guilty, along with others.
That committee report also indicated that Mrs. Oswald
herself was somehow caught up In the Intricate web of connections
between Oswald, the CIA, and the Mafia. But she always denied
that, as well.
Throughout the years, Mrs. Oswald's major arguments
remained the same.
MRS. OSWALD: Really, the only thing that matters is
proof, evidence that he k i l l ed President Kennedy. And there is
no proof to this day, in any of the documents, any of the books
that have been written; of Lee Harvey Oswald 'actually being found
with a gun In his hand and killing President Kennedy. He was
placed in the book depository. And they had a perfect patsy.
They set him up.

day that Lee's name will be cleared?
