Stoops h -# -S d 7 0 I Security Programs Manager Subject: INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY INFORMATION REQUEST FBI PERSONNEL SECURITY Impact of Involuntary Staff Separations on Agency Security: Number of staff removed per year, reasons for removal (broadly categorized), and security clearance level of those removed for 1985-87. The following number of FBI employees were removed for cause during the period of 1985 through 1987: During 1985 - 12 employees (4 Agents and 8 Support Personnel) During 1986 - 18 employees (9 Agents and 9 Support Personnel) During 1987 - 20 employees (10 Agents and 10 Support Personnel) The following number of FBI employees resigned at some point while the subject of an administrative inquiry, up to and including receiving the notification of intention to be removed, during the period of 1985 through 1987: During 1985 - 65 employees (18 Agents and 47 Support Personnel) During 1986 - 91 employees (17 Agents and 74 Support Personnel) During 1987 - 99 employees (19 Agents and 80 Support Personnel) All of the above employees held a "Top Secret" security clearance at the time of removal or resignation.
