On 2 and 3 November, ISB conducted its Fall 1988 Industrial Security Officer Seminar here in Washington, D. C. 'I'he seminar was attended by 30 Contractor Security Officers from 27 companies doing business with CIA. The seminar was conducted at the SCI level and famed speakers from both the Agency and private industry. ? On 7 November, a CSMB officer attended a pre-construction meeting with Office of Logistics representatives regarding security concerns during the removal of asbestos from basement corridors in the Old Headquarters Building. Removal of the asbestos is expected to begin in the near future. their upcoming relocation to the 2430 E Street complex. ? On 6 November a CSMB officer met with various Agency tenants regarding vault requirements in OS/SESD will be apprised of alarm requirements. The SPS Recruiting Staff interviewed 11 SPO candidates, reviewed 15 PHSs and 7 resumes, all of which were considered viable candidates. ? The HSD/OIT Representative attended an ADP Seminar in Boston on 7-9 November. On 9 November, HSD personnel provided support and guidance for an employee experiencing an apparent heart attack in the South Cafeteria. SPS personnel were administering oxygen to the individual when OMS and the SDO arrived. SPS is planning for the establishment of authority The SPS is preparing a proposal for access control and traffic management in anticipation of the opening of the new west lot gatehouse. II. Critical Issues: ? Continuing departures of Escort Section WAE escorts is creating a personnel shortage. In addition, many of our other escorts who were full-time during the summer are converting to a part-time schedule. The section is adjusting to compensate for this loss, including increased recruitment efforts of escorts. Currently, the Escort Section is short 75 escorts to fulfill daily requirements. ? Radio communications between Headquarters and the New Building is still critical. The COTR for the project advises that all the hardware has been installed and that the Oscar, Victor, and OMS frequencies are operational. There remains some work to be done on the OMS frequency, however, the system is functioning properly. III. Planned Activities: ? PASS related difficulties have arisen with some badges created for the Receptionist Section in 1987, and discussions are being held with CSC and MARTEC representatives and the Receptionist Section to determine the causes of the difficulties, possible solutions, and current, and future ramifications. Eight employees attended this session at a total cost for the downlink of $1,560. This University of Maryland course was videotaped. Copies will be available in ISG and the OTE Learning Center. Course topics included an introduction to information systems security, access control, network security, encryption, and network applications.
