You have asked for MSA's commitment to two things: security and
executing batch jobs in IDMS's CV mode.
As I mentioned to you, when we were discussing these issues, the
security item would be the most difficult to address. MSA has a
policy that says we will not support any code that we do not
control. However, we recognize that clients may wish to: modify
code for specific purposes. MSA will not, as a practical matter,
set any client adrift on their own. Specifically, MSA will
provide technical counseling on changes you wish to make. This
counseling will include recommended approaches to achieve.
specific objectives. In addition, we will review any proposed
design specs for changes developed by the CIA and provide a
technical opinion. There may be cases where we want ownership of
a change and elect to provide it as an enhancement to our broad
client base. I hope the foregoing alleviates any concerns that
you may have concerning MSA's involvement
The answer on continued support of executing batch jobs in a CV
mode is more direct. This feature will be included as standard
product release 86.02 (6.4). As such, MSA will support this
system enhancement from this time forward.
Very truly yours,
John Holmes
