D. 3 MADRONA MILL VALLEY, CALIFORNIA 94941 (415) 383-1155 February 25, 1988 Mr. Ro ert Gates De u Director Ce al Intelligence Agency Washington, DC 20505 Dear Dr. Gates: A brief note of thanks for your extraordinarily generous and thoughtful participation at the recent YPO Kauai University. I'm taking the liberty of enclosing some observations made at Friday's faculty debriefing. If you'd like to add your comments -- Strengths? Shortcomings? Suggestions? -- please send them to me at the above address. Again, many thanks. It was a privilege to serve as YPO Dean with such a distinguished group of colleagues. With all best wishes, Cordial Pierre Mornell, M. D. Personal Development speakers commented on this especially. This was extremely draining for the faculty. More fireside chats and workshops may help to alleviate this problem. - too much time is scheduled. Suggest only 1 class period after lunch. Also, this would allow faculty more time to spend with registrants on an individual basis - some faculty felt they are performing for evaluation numbers - some faculty felt the evaluations are superficial - The debriefing was an excellent opportunity for faculty to discuss and evaluate the university and should be continued Declassified and Approved For Release 2012/08/22 : CIA-RDP89G00720R000700950008-2 Declassified and Approved For Release 2012/08/22 : CIA-RDP89G00720R000700950008-2 Suggested Topics - more game like classes eg. February 24, 1988 Robezf M. Gates y Director of C ral Intelligence Washington, D.C. 20505 Dear Mr. Gates: Although it will be some weeks before the final results are available, early indications are that Kauai was one of the highest rated universities in YPO history. Because it was a North American university where education is always the most important aspect, it is clear that the education program was the primary determinant of the overall university's success. Of course, it didn't hurt that the social, hospitality, and other aspects were very well done. I just want to thank you once again for your part in this successful undertaking. I don't know if you will be involved in future YPO educational events, but this one was very special for Sally and me because it was our only one, and we really appreciate your help. Your sessions were very well received and I hope you will be able to speak again to future YPO audiences. Again, I thank you, and look forward to seeing you at future YPO educational events.
