Enclosed please find, for your information, background data on the
National Historical Intelligence Museum. Included are a copy of
the Senate Hearing supporting the establishment of the Museum
and various materials that are part of the fund-raising project.
The written presentation, as you will note, is intended for the
average American benefactor and not for the intelligence
professional.
We have heard from) and others that the Agency
is considering various alternatives on what use to make of the
Scattergood property. We are currently looking for a suitable
site and we would be interested in working out an arrangement
with the Agency for our use of a relatively small section of the
Scattergood property. The Museum's Board of Directors and its
Advisory Council have a large number of Agency alumni including
Dick Helms, Bill Colby, Lyman Kirkpatrick, Larry Houston, Ray
Cline and many others.
The Museum would describe the nation's past intelligence activities,
highlighting the work of the various services (OS8/CIA, DIA, FBI, NSA,
ONI, MI, etc.), also tracing the history of American intelligence
from Washington's valiant efforts to recent times, security permitting.
We feel confident you will agree that there is need now, more than ever,
to put the vital role of intelligence work in the proper perspective
for the American people and the media.
