Dear Mr. Gates:
The Federal Space Evaluation Committee (FSEC) recently noted the unique
characteristics of the Ship Point facility in Solomons, Maryland, and in
particular, how it could be ideal for conducting "special activities" of certain
agencies of the United States Government.
As a consequence of their general observations, a list was prepared of these
organizations, and the Ship Point Limited Partnership was encouraged to make
this group knowledgeable about the facility. Based upon preliminary
conversations, we have gathered that the "anticipated" client/user would view
this complex as very appropriate, where specific program needs demanded highly
securable space in an environment which is isolated from the more public
programs of the agency.
In order to meet our responsibility of a "targeted" marketing approach, we have
addressed this information to you, fully realizing that others within your
organization would be designated for follow thru, if conditions dictated. The
enclosed brochure and floor plans will provide you with a substantial amount of
information about the complex.
I feel compelled to apologize for addressing this to you under the label of
"PERSONAL". Unfortunately, in large organizations, and most especially in
government, it is difficult for an outsider to identify the appropriate
person(s) who would directly handle such matters. By placing this initially in
your hands, I am confident that it will receive proper internal routing.
For futher information, or arrangements for a site tour, please contact either
Skip Gardiner or Art Held at 301-261-6250. In that we have dealt with some very
"sensitive" space requirements in the past, we are cognizant of the need to
maintain confidentiality.
