The attached report is the first readout on Mission 3002 over Cuba. It has not been edited or proof-read but it is deemed desirable to place into the hands of all COMOR participating agencies and/or offices an advanced look at the coverage. 2. It is intended that this report be replaced by a final report which will be disseminated on a regular basis as soon as possible. In the interim this report will serve the needs of the recipient to determine requirements for additional collection, if needed. 3. This report may NOT be released from TALENT Controls under the provisions of COMOR-D-24 (TCS-8202/60); however, the individual items of information on pages 1 through-57 have been prepared in a semi-sanitized fashion so as to facilitate ready transmittal of significant selected items to field commands, should this become necessary. This report provides a partial listing of items of intelligence interest in Cuba. Since recent observation was limited to approximately 50 percent of the area, additional surveillance will be necessary to obtain a complete target listing. As of 27 October 1960, none of the following items was observed in those areas subject to sur- veillance -- antiaircraft batteries, surface-to-surface missile installations, troop concentrations, USSR aircraft, and USSR tanks, Approximately 190 airfields, varying from sod landing grounds to those with surfaced runways, is contained in the listing. This includes those airfields which have been abandoned or could not be located, but does not contain 24 airfields whose existence could be neither confirmed nor denied. In all, 118 aircraft were observed, of which 95 could be positively identified by type. Aircraft observed included 16 bombers (B-26 and TBM), 6 fighters (Hawker Sea Fury), 26 transports, 11 trainers, and 26 light aircraft (Piper and Cessna 310). Items are arranged in this listing by WAC, within WAC by subject, and within subject by degree square reading from south to north and from east to west. An explanation of the column headings used in the listing is contained in the appendix, - i - Approved For Release 2006/12/26: CIA-RDP89B00551 R00100026000T'4P SECRET ZEBUB Approved For Release 2006/12/26: CIA-RDP89B00551 R001000260007-4 TOP SECRET ZEBUB APPENDIX EXPLANATION OF COLUMN HEADINGS Column headings used in the listing are as follows (reading from left to right): City, Installation -- This column contains the name of the city or town nearest the installation, followed by the name of the installation. If the name of the installation is not known, it is titled according to its function. The city and installation name is followed by a capsule description, where appropriate. Coordinates -- Coordinates are given to the nearest minute. When the subject installation covers a wide area, coordinates are given for the approximate center of the installation. WAC -- This column provides the World Aeronautical Chart number for the area in which the subject installation lies. Target Numbers -- The Target Numbers column is divided into two subcolumns. The first sub- column lists, when known, the BE installation number assigned to the target. The second column lists the installation number assigned by PIC. Installation numbers, when used to reference an item, should be prefixed by the appropriate WAC number, since installation numbers are repeated from WAC to WAC. For example, there is a PIC target numbered 0586-1 and a PIC target numbered 0585-1. In each instance, the PIC installation number is 1, but the installations appear on different WACs. Subject Code (Sbj) -- The last column lists for each installation the subject code to which it has been assigned for recall purposes. The detailed subject code is as follows -- 1.
