Action Requested. That you approve the selection of Mr. EURA, as the chairman of the senior-level DI panel responsible for implementation of the Economic Challenge initiatives and as the CRES economic referent. 2. Background. After EXCOM's approval of the Implementation Plan for The Economic Challenge: Issues, Capabilities, and New Initiatives, the Executive Director deferred to each Directorate as to how the appropriate initiatives would be put into effect. The first step for the DI was the establishment of a senior-level DI Economic Panel to improve the functioning of the economic intelligence collection system. Each DI office was asked to designate a member to the Panel (with the chairman to be selected by you) and provide nominations for a position of senior-level economic referent in CRES. The attachment lists the members of the Economic Panel. 3. Staff Position. Discussions with production office management led to the conclusion that the Panel chairman the CRES referent should be the same officer and that is an excellent choice, based on his background and experience.- me is interested in the assignment, and EURA has approved in principle a two-year rotation to CRES. 4.
