SUBJECT: Nomination to Attend a Senior Officer School
1. The CIA Training Selection Board met recently to consider
nominations to attend Senior Officer Schools. The Board recommended to
Robert M. Gates, Deputy Director of Central Intelligence, that you be
named as an alternate to attend the ^ during academic year 1988/89. In
the event a primary candidate must be withdrawn or another space becomes
available to the Agency, you will be asked to attend the school. You
will be notified immediately if either of these events occur.
2. Your selection is an expression of the Agency's belief that you
are making and will continue to make a significant contribution to our
work. I and the Board strongly believe that you are precisely the kind
of person who must make a contribution to our efforts to prepare CIA
people for the challenge that is ahead.
3. With this in mind, the Board encourages you to consider the idea
of joining the OTE teaching staff for a few months to a year so that OTE
and its students could benefit from your experiences as a successful
manager. I would be glad to talk with you about the possibilities that
