MEAN CITIZENS nSSOCIATION P. 90X 273
MCLEAN. VIRGINIA 22101
October 22, 1984
To: Members, MCA Transportation Committee
From: Lilla D. McC. Richards, Chairman
Subject: Thursday, October 25, Meeting at McLean Community Center, Swinson Lounge
Note: Public invited and encouraged to attend!
AGENDA
1. CIA Alternatives 2 and 4: Larry Myers of the CIA's New Building Project Office
will be present to answer our questions about the study, "Roadway Improvements Re-
lating to Expansion of the CIA Headquarters." I have tried to make sure each of
you has a chance to read it before Thursday's meeting. Each of our limited number
of copies has a distribution list on it, so please read it and get it to the next
Committee member as soon as possible. If you have it as of Thursday, please bring
it to the meeting, so we can redistribute it to members of the MCA Board.
Please come prepared to vote on alternative 2 vs. alternative 4, and with any
stipulations in writing. If Wednesday night arrives and you still haven't received
a copy of the study, see me at the Candidates Night meeting at the Community Center
and I'll give you my copy. Residents of the CIA area are urged to come to our meeting.
2. Annual Plan Review: As we had previously discussed, one of the changes we want
made in the Master Plan is to clarify that Route 123 should remain four lanes plus
turning lanes east of Old Dominion Drive. Committee members who have other proposals
should be prepared to bring them up at the meeting, although we will not vote on them
until after notice has been given in the agenda of the November 27 meeting.
3. Chain Bridge Road: Sidewalk reconstruction on both sides of Chain Bridge Road
between Old Dominion Drive and Dolley Madison Boulevard at Churchill Road will be
completed soon. We need to ask the Board of Supervisors to pass a resolution
designating the sidewalk on the south side of Chain Bridge Road as a bike trail,
to carry out the intent of the Chain Bridge Road Committee and the McLean Trails Plan.
4. Tysons II: Chairman's report on final proffers.
5. Tysons/Dulles Plaza: Postponed. Our message is getting through. See August 28
letter/agenda.
6. Tysons Height Study: Draft released October 12. As we suspected, shows 75 feet
along south side of Dulles Road except for Tysons/Dulles Plaza "gateway" site. Note
that this staff proposal has not been approved by citizens, the Planning Commission,
or the Board of Supervisors, but has been the basis for approvals of 1st American
Bank, Tysons II, etc., and the staff report favorable to a 157-foot height for
Tysons/Dulles Plaza.
7. Other issues raised by Committee members.
