Approved For Release 2008/06/30: CIA-RDP89-00244R000200210007-5 17 MAY 1982 MEMORANDUM FOR: Chief, Building Planning Staff, OL FROM: Deputy Director of Data Processing SUBJECT: ADP-Related Savings Resulting from Occupancy of New Building 1. In responding to your request for estimated dollar savings resulting from the construction of a new building on the Headquarters site, we have assumed that all components presently in leased space would move to the Langley compound. 2. The need for ODP to operate Data Access Centers (DACs) in outlying buildings would be eliminated, thereby freeing up eight computer operator positions (our present staffing level in remote DACs). This will save approximately $200,000 in personal services annually. In addition substantial savings in communications costs will be realized, the precise dollar value of which can better be estimated by the Office of Communications. 3. For all tenants in the new building (ODP included), we estimate a cost avoidance of approximately $2,000 per new terminal installation resulting from the elimination of the need to TEMPEST such terminals and provide for their optical isolation. 4. Less tangible savings but very real benefits accrue from the improved reliability in the delivery of computer services to a single building. Also, our responsiveness in servicing terminal problems can be improved significantly as a result. Approved For Release 2008/06/30: CIA-RDP89-00244R000200210007-5
