CJ1J - l a. The Deputy Director of Central Intelligence cancelled his tour
of the New Headquarters Building scheduled for 8 September 1986. The tour

b. A technical representative from the New Building Project
Office, OL, attended the Fine Arts Commission meeting on 8 September and
will continue to attend until completion of the New Headquarters Building

(NHB). In order to further communication on the NHB, a briefing has been
prepared outlining specific areas of interest to the Commission. The
briefing was moved to 20 October due to the full agenda on 8 September.
2 ? _I.tems - c Efrents _of Major- -Interest That Have Occurred -luring the
Preceding Week:
a. The New Building Project Office (NBPO), OL, has made
arrangements for transferring the non-secure telephone lines at the George
Washington Memorial Parkway (GW4P) guardhouse (Gate 3) to the temporary
guardhouse due to be delivered to the Headquarters compound on .,:
8 September. The temporary guardhouse will provide an7tinq'base for
the SPOs during construction of the new Security Control Center (SCC) at
Gate 3 as part of the Bid Package 4 contract.
c. The new Headquarters North Loading Dock schedule has been
received from the contractor. General Services Administration (GSA) is
closely supervising the progress and turnover of this area set for no later
than 29 October 1986. Upon completion, SOMAT will complete the relocation
of extractors, construction in the old dock area will commence for OIT, and
STAT freight traffic will move from the South Dock area.

d. Renovations at the Headquarters Powerhouse continue as part of
the New Headquarters Building Bid Package 3. The contractor continued
installation of the shielded control wire and conduits for the new gas
turbine emergency generators. Installation of the next two chillers
/ continues with completion scheduled for November 1986. When completed, the
chilled water capacity will increase to 10 900 tons of refrigeration on
STAT this critical Headquarters cooling system.['

UJC e. Seven of the eight. Uninterrupti le Power Supply (UPS) systems
have been factory tested at the manufacturer's facility in Raleigh, NC.
Installation of the UPS systems is continuing in the New Headquarters
Building with the last UPS system scheduled for testing in late September.
When the eight UPS systems are installed, aightAnegawatts-ef critical power
STAT will be provided for fifteen minutes during a power outage.

ILLEGIB f. Initial problem with the quality and timeliness of curbing
work on the Headquarters compound have been overcome. The curb replacement

g. Installation of the exterior drywall and inner wall windows on
the North Tower of the New Headquarters Building (NHB) is approximately 90%
late September on the North Tower and once completed, will provide

3. Events Anticipated During the Coming Week:
A; 1 j a. C0 9 September 19W, the Chief, New Building Project Office,
OL, w2?i -feet with Dewberry and Davis, the architects for the Routes
123/193 redesign. The purpose of the meeting ito provide a general
background briefing of--t rs project, the architect's perspective on this
project,the specific design of a visual barrier separating Route 193 from
Section 7 of the Evermay community, and to decide on a date/time to brief
the Evermay community. The Evermay briefing will precede what hopefully
STAT will be the final meeting of the Traffic Advisory Committee.

b. Construction for the,newje ur ty Control Center at the George
Washington Memorial Parkway-wilS-beginbn 18 September. There
will be no traffic impact for the first six weeks. The Route 123 Security
Control Center is planned for completion by the end of October,1986:
Resurfacing of north lot will begin 15 September and continue in three

will provide a tour of the New Headquarters Building for senior Office of
Information Technology managers.
