The conference will focus on Soviet policy in the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Africa, as described in the enclosure. It will meet on March 15, 1984, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and will be hosted by the Kennan Institute for Advanced Russian Studies of the Woodrow Wilson Center (Smithsonian Building, Library Room, entry by-the east door). Lunch will be included. Because seating is limited, attendance will be by invitation only. Please respond as soon as possible, either by returning the enclosed card or calling.
