NO TAB,, Shultz Trip to Africa. The Secretary leaves on 4 October for a swing
through Senegal, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Zaire, Cameroon, Zambia,
Botswana, Lusaka (to meet with the ANC), the Congo (to meet with the OAU),
and South Africa.
Chester Crocker has assured Fred Wettering that there is no hidden agenda
for South Africa. Nonetheless, Fred suggests that if the opportunity
presents itself, you may want to ask Abramowitz and Armacost about the
Secretary's plans.

TAB B Karachi Hijacking.) )yesterday morning on the
debriefing of the hijackers which suggests Libyan complicity. The extent
of that complicity is unclear.
State has asked to be kept informed of any information we receive on the
debriefings. Talking points from CTC are at Tab . The information has
been disseminated to the Community, but Armacost and Abramowitz may not
yet be aware of it at the time of your luncheon.
