ILLEGIB SOME ASPE:CT.~ OF F.TIOLOc3ICAL DIAGNOSIS OF OCCUPATIONAL ILLNESS RELATED TO THE EFFECT OF MICROWAVI~: RADIATION Moscow GIGIYF.IVA Tut1I)A I PROFESSIONAL'NYYE ZAAOhEVANIYA in Russian N? 3, 76 FP 1k-18 lArticle ;y A.K. Cus'kova and Ye. M. Kochanovn, Institute of Labor Hy- giere and Occupatian~il Tllnesr of the Academy of Medical Sciences USSR, Moscow LTextj One of the production factors whi~~h, according to several inves- tigations in recent years, is reflected in the freq~xency of cardiovascular illness is microwave radiation (B. V. I1'inskiy and co-authors; V. P. Medvedev). Bacause work with sources of UI-~' radiation, whether it is tuning radio equipment or the work of rad~.r station operators, requires su'bst:anti.al nervous-emotional stress rind involver other unfavorable as- pects, the etiolo~,ical diagnosis of illness of the blood circulatory apparatus in ,,i,ch i,roups presents ~,rcat dii'ficultie:;. According to the .findin~~s of various authors, changes in the activity oP the cardiovascular system which occur in persons working with sources of microwave radiation ms.ke up the syndrome of neurocircul.atory dystonia of the hypo- or hypertonir types (Ye. V. Gembitskiy; N. V. Tyagin; K. V. Glotova and M. N. aa~'chikova) and may lead to the development of hyper- toria and ischenia of the heart (B. V. Il'inskiy and co-authors; V. P. Medvedev). When comparici data for a number of years on the frequency oP arterial hyl;ertoxiia and hypat.ar.ia in persons working in contact with UHF radiation it may be noted that ttir frequency of arterial h5~otonia has dropped markedly {n recent years, from 38 percent in data for 1948 (A. A. KAvorky~sn) to sevF~n rcr~~~~nt. for 1~?';1. (M. N. ;;rsdchikova and K. V. Nikonova).
