Dear Mr. Casey:

It has come to my attention that the National Reconnaissance Organiza-
tion has information and photographs taken this year of live American
servicemen held captive in Southeast Asia.
I realize that this information and photos is classified for national
security reasons. I am also keenly aware of the sensitivity of the
National Reconnaissance-Organization and wish to maintain its important
role in our defense system. However, I do recognize my responsibility
to my constituents and the American people to obtain an explanation of
such reports, while still maintaining a high degree of national security.
I, therefore, respectfully request, as a Member of Congress who is deeply
involved in the POW/MIA issue, to be briefed on the reports of the.
National Reconnaissance Organziation &essing SRphotographs taken
this year of live American service 'hel\i capt in Vietfam.
Your prompt attention to my
