SUBJECT: Establishment of Analytical Methodology Research
Division (AMR/ORD)
Assessing and advancing applicable Social,
Behavioral and Information Science techniques
and technologies
Selectively investigating feasibility of
reducing such new concepts to practice
Providing directed Social, Behavioral and
Information Science support to other Agency
components as appropriate
4. Creation of the Analytical Methodology Research Division
from an amalgamation of Life Sciences Research and the Center
for the Development of Analytical Methodology is intended to:
Provide a better posture for attack on
interdisciplinary problems
Achieve a critical mass of resources and
focus these on fewer, more significant
program elements thus allowing more
effective management
Provide a more attractive career path
for professionals, thus facilitating
the maintenance of key disciplines
5. As shown in the attached organization diagram, the
Analytical Methodology Research Division will be supervised by a
Chief who will have full management responsibility for the
personnel and researches of the Division. Substantive responsi-
bility for major research areas serviced by this Division will
be assigned to the Principal Social Scientist for disciplines
ranging broadly from Biomedical to Management Sciences and to
the Principal Information Scientist for disciplines ranging from
Computer Science to Operations Research.
