It was good to talk to you on the telephone today. I am sending the
letter which I told you I have had signed on my desk hoping to have an
opportunity to discuss the matter with you orally. Since we talked it
out on the telephone today I thought I might send it on now.
As I told you, we are happy to provide Mike Pillsbury with clearances
and to provide him with classified information which he needs to know for
purposes specified in the request relative to your needs as Chairman of
the Committee on Labor and Human Resources. To help him serve you with
respect to your trip to the Soviet Union, we would be glad to provide him
with a briefing relative to your interests in the Soviet Union. We have
given such briefings this week to other legislators who are going to the
Soviet Union. I have directed that he be called next week for the purpose
of offering a briefing to him and to you whenever you are available. i, .
