Mr. Ed Offley of the Williamsburg Gazette called me late ? yesterday afternoon. lie sat at t paper would be running L STAT STAT 25X1 ,rAT STAT STAT STAT 25X1 assume this means that the paper feels that a follow-up to their story is called for because of letters to the Editor on It is hard to say whether the follow-up story will be benign or not. I do not hold out much hope for a terribly friendly story. Mr. Offley said he had seen a statement attributed to It in the Richmond paper. I repeated that statement to him. was to the effect that "a spokesman of the Central Intelligence .Agency said that allegations concerning any training for or participation in assassination operations by the Agency are absolutely untrue. The same applies to allegations concerning Agency contact with or association with mini-nuclear weapons'?. the subject.
