SUBJECT: Commendation - Wire Duty Officers
I want to commend the performance of the Wire Services Staff and in
particular the Wire Duty Officers over the past several months, both in
terms of handling the incoming file and in our relations with the watch
offices and others who regularly depend on WSS support. The various
crises have included such events as the Radio Marti and TWA hijacking
events, the Chernenko and Neves death watches, special services to the
NSC, special service to the Shultz/McFarlane delegation in Geneva, the
Uganda coup, and other developments. The Wire Duty Officers are in daily
and regular contact with our most prominent consumers, and I single the
WDOs out for praise here because of the fine job they have done in
representing FBIS in this vital function.
