The small rectangle at upper right is an "auxiliary
menu", which is used to select infrequently-used
commands, especially those relate to appearance, when
they are needed. Normally, this menu remains closed.
This window can be used to show on-line Reference Aids,
such as a Glossary or list of Office-Holders (from which
text can be copied into the Document Editing Window),
or (for a Monitor in the Field) the current Coverage
Schedule.
Frequently-used items in a Glossary may also be made
accessible by means of an Abbreviation/Expansion
capability which operates directly in the Document
Editing Window.
In this window, the Editor can respond directly to any
urgent incoming traffic. This window can also be used
for sending the plain text of an edited translation
(without the Edit-Trace information) as a message.
If this is a Terminal Emulation window, it can be used for
accessing the database of drop copy, publishable
messages, etc..
The act of copying the text from the Document Editing
Window to this window does not copy any characters
which are not currently being displayed (or would be, if
the window were large enough).

urgent incoming traffic. This window can also be used
for sending the plain text of an edited translation
(without the Edit-Trace information) as a message.

Present Status (as from the OS4.2 release)
? Xerox 150 Graphics Input Scanner scans-in correctly-sized original,
gives the resulting data a user-supplied file name, and deposits it on
a File Service
? Star document provides a frame for the image to go in, which is set
to the size of the image, and given the file name and File Service
name as a property
? Document is converted to Interpress print-file format, and sent to
an 8700 or 9700 printer (only)
? Printer retrieves the image from the File Service, and.places it in the
frame on the printed document
? The image is not displayed on the screen
? The image cannot be manipulated after scanning

Demonstrate approximate functionality in December 1984 on
