be in an embassy or in the U.S.' in seventy-two hours
'if the Americana help.' He stated that he was 'more
optomistic' about a resolution, and saw 'positive
signs, but not something complete' in his contacts
with the French, Austrians and Swiss.
Peres restated publicly Israel's concern for the
safety and return of the hostages, and declared 'we
shall participate in doing whatever can be Done in
the double undertaking: not to surrender to terror,
and then to bring back the innocent people that were
hi3acked.'
The Syrian party newspaper featured an editorial
I which condemned the hi)acking in stronger terms than
previously used, and is probably the closest Syria
will come to an outright denunciation of the act, at
least until the release of the hostages.
