 Report of the DCI's Nuclear Intelligence Panel
13-14 September 1984
Your Nuclear Intelligence Panel (NIP) met on 13-14 September 1984, and
received briefings on and discussed the following subjects (in addition to
several other current items and updating on selected topics):
The NIP received reports from subpanels which convened prior to this
meeting and dealt with subjects b and c above. The agenda for the Panel
meeting and list of members in attendance are attached. (U)
Comments, conclusions and recommendations of the Panel, including those
discussed with you on 14 September 1984, are, with one exception, as follows.
Those relating to a special collection subject are provided in a separate
memorandum. (U)
 The Panel came to the conclusion that many important pending questions
will require new sources of data if answers are to be found. Therefore, the
Panel recommends that collectors throughout the community be urged to increase
the resources devoted to collection against nuclear requirements. (S)
The next Panel meeting is set for 20-21 March 1985, with the agenda
expected to include among other items:
