Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/03/15: CIA-RDP87B00858R000300350010-4 Central Inkligrw Army Mr. Gary Chase Chief Counsel Select Committee on Intelligence United States Senate Washington, D.C. 20510 Dear Gary: OLL85-1449/1 20 May 1985 This is in response to the concern expressed by Senator Bentsen at the 8 May SSCI markup of the Intelligence Authorization Bill concerning the cost of funding additional retirement credits at unhealthful posts. The Office of Personnel informs us that based on the State Department's experience, about one percent of their senior officers serving at unhealthful posts and who are receiving salaries close to the ambassadorial pay cap elect the extra retirement credit in lieu of a post differential. The Agency expects that its experience will be similar to that of the State Department. Hopefully, the above cost data will provide the necessary information requested by the Senator.
