SUBJECT: Report of Significant Logistics Activities
for Period Ending 12 July 1984
1. Progress report on tasks Assigned by the DCI/DDCI:
No tasks assigned during this reporting period.
2. Events of Major Interest that have Occurred
During the Preceding Week:
a. New Building Project: The Hyman Company
representatives are pressuring for extended work hours to take
advantage of good weather. The current Agency security force
is incapable of meeting these demands. It may become
necessary to rapidly expand the security force to meet
contractor demands. Alternatives are being investigated by
both parties.

b. Modification of Logistics Integrated Management System
(LIMS) Quality Assurance (QA) Effort: On 2 July,
Grumman-CTEC, Incorporated submitted a Cost-Plus-Award-Fee
proposal, in the total estimated amount of $6,571,321, for the
modification of the existing LIMS QA effort. This proposed
modification includes a revised Statement of Work and a

e. Remington Rand Safes: Fourty-three excess Remington
Rand safes were delivered to the General Services
Administration (GSA), Building A, for disposition to other
government agencies.
f. Depot Renovations: Depot personnel
completeaLne resealing of the floors within the Depot. Areas
sealed were the main aisleways and materiel staging areas.
The purpose is to reduce the amount of dust generated in the
materiel handling process.
In conjunction with the completion of the major
concrete work in the repaving of the Depot driveway, the
contractor is now concentrating on preparations for
resurfacing the remainder of the driveway with blacktop,
enlarging the front parking lot, foundations for a new
guardhouse and general clean-up work.
g. Quality of Life: Rewallpapering of the first floor
elevator cores commenced on 9 July. Each of the four areas
will have the former paper, which was white, replaced with a
color tint to emphasize the different painted accents of each
area. Work is expected to be finished by the middle of next
year.
The Printing and Photography Division, OL, has printed
replacement sections for the damaged map of Paris in the lh
elevator core. GSA will replace the sections of the map in
approximately three weeks.
h. Hydraulic Barricades: Hardesty, Incorporated, has
installed two barricades at the George Washington Memorial
Parkway entrance to the Headquarters compound that were
scheduled to be installed at the Route 123 entrance. The
second shipment of barricades has still not been received.

i. Street Lighting: A high-voltage specialist has been
working since 27 June to repair the street lighting circuits
which had been inadvertently cut. The contractor is expected
to be onsite for at least two weeks.
j. Temporary Sidewalk on Main Entrance Road: The bid
package is ready to go on the street; however, it is on hold
until the hydraulic barricade contractor finishes his work at
the main gate.
k. Northside Utility Line Project: The northside steam
and condensate lines were placed into full operation the week
of 25 June. The remaining underground chilled water line
leaks are located beneath the North Loading Dock Access Road
and at the base of the powerplant. While GSA is currently
working with the contractor to resolve these problems, there
is no scheduled date for completion of this project available
at this time.
M. Security Enhancement:) Key, Chamber of Commerce
Buildings - On 2 July, the contracts for installation of
Communications, Incorporated. The work will begin on 23 July
and is expected to take two months. Long lead time items,
Chamber of Commerce were awarded to Glen Industrial
parking control devices and CCTV cameras at Key, and
such as guard booths and traffic arms, are already on order.
n. DDCI Visit: The Deputy Director of Central
Intelligence visited the Central De of on 9 July and the
Office of Logistics on 11 July. (U/AIUO)
