MEMORANDUM FOR THE DIRECTOR OF CENTRAL INTFLLIGENCE
SUBJECT: The Situation in Indonesia
REFERENCE: NSC Action No. 1879
The National Security Council, the Secretary of the Treasury, the
Attorney General, the Director, Bureau of the Budget, the Chairman,
Atomic Energy Commission, and the Federal Civil Defense Administra-
tor, at the 359th NEC Meeting on March 20, 1958 (NEC Action No. 1879):
a. Noted and discussed an oral briefing by the Director of Central
Intelligence on the subject LITSignificant World Developments Af-
fecting U. S. Security51 with specific reference to the situa-
tions in Indonesia, the Middle East, and France. -
b. Noted the President's request that the Director of Central In-
telligence include in his oral briefing at the next Council
meeting a short discussion of the topography of Sumatra.
The above action, as approved by the President on March 210 19580 is
transmitted herewith for appropriate implementation of paragraph b
thereof.
