Proposed Meeting with Senator Hawkins
Concerning Cuban Involvement in
Drug Trafficking
1. Senator Hawkins, Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on
Alcoholism and Drug Abuse of the Senate Committee on Labor and
Human Resources, has requested a meeting with you to discuss
the Agency's interest in a hearing she may schedule before her
Subcommittee on Cuban involvement in drug trafficking. Senator
Hawkins, at this stage, does not wish to discuss in detail the
subject of Cuban involvement in drug trafficking, but instead
is simply interested in hearing what the Agency's interest
would be in such a hearing, and what assistance it might be
able to provide the Subcommittee in holding such a hearing and
in identifying potential witnesses on this subject matter.
2. Senator Hawkins has indicated that the meeting would
last approximately 30 minutes. If you have no objections to
meeting with Senator Hawkins on this subject, let me know and
we will make the necessary arrangements for the meeting.
