I was delighted to hear from John McMahon that you have agreed to
take on the Chairmanship of our Science and Technology Advisory Panel
(STAP) for a three-year tour beginning this September,
As you know, the Intelligence Community Staff will provide you
whatever administrative support you will need. Fora substantive frame
of reference, however, you should continue to stay in close touch with
Julian Nall, our NIO for Science and Technology,
I think the ideas you mentioned to John for tapping specialists on an
ad hoc basis to bring needed expertise to small STAP working groups have
considerable merit. I would welcome any other recommendations you might
have,
William J, Casey
