19 October 1982
1. Attached is a list of names, and Social Security
numbers of a group from the Air War College, Maxwell Air
Force Base, Alabama, who will be visiting the Agency on
19 October 1982. They will be receiving briefings in
Room 1E74 beginning at 0900 and ending at 1200. They all
hold TOP SECRET clearances, and all are U.S. citizens.
2. The group will arrive at Headquarters via their own
transportation at approximately 0855 and depart Agency grounds
at about 1205.

SUBJECT: Briefing of Students from Air War College
on 19 October 1982
1. There will be approximately 30 students and 5 members
of the administrative staff of the Air War College in attendance
for your briefing between 11-12 a.m. on 19 October in Room 1E74.
The highest ranking member of the group will be Ambassador
Maurice Bean, the State Department Advisor to the Air University.
The remainder of the group will consist of colonels, lieutenant
colonels and their civilian equivalents.
2. Members of the group, all of whom are cleared through
TOP SECRET, will have riefed, prior to their departure
from Maxwell, by the CIA Representative to the Air
War College, on the ac ivi ies and organizational structure of
the Agency. Prior to your presentation on the 19th,
SOVA/DDI, will speak on Soviet foreign policy and Ha Ford will
brief on the estimative process.
3. In discussin the visit with the Coordinator for Academic
Affairs, the faculty trip manager suggested the follow-
ing points tor discussion:
a. How you view the past, present and future of the Agency,
b. CIA's relationship to consumers, both in the Executive
and Legislative Branches of Government, and
c. The impact on the Agency and its operation of changes
in administrations in Washington.
Another possibility would be the Agency's relationship with the
various oversight bodies.
4. From past experiences and from conversations about this
trip, we believe this group will be a receptive one for those

Air War College on 19 October.
1. Lt. Col. Philip T. O'Neill, Jr. and a colleague from the
Air War College visited the Coordinator for Academic Affairs on
24 September to discuss arrangements for a briefing of a group of
students of the Air War College at Headquarters on 19 October.
2. O'Neill and his associate were satisfied with plans for
the briefing to be held in Room 1E74. They also expressed satisfac-
tion w to present three briefings between 9-12 on the
19th. DDI/SOVA, will brief on Soviet foreign policies
between 9-10, Hal Ford, D/AG/NIC, will brief on the
function between 10-11, and the Executive Director, will
brief on the overall mission of the Agency and its re a ions i th
both the executive and legislative branches of government between
11 and 12.

The Air War College sponsors several different field trips each year to
provide students a firsthand view of the s* ect areas studied. The most
popular field trip this year, Judging b y the student response, I s the
lfashinGton VC trip managed by our National Security Affairs Department. One
of the highlights of the trip is a visit to the Central Intelligence Agency.
