I apologize for-the delay in getting the social security numbers
of this year's International Fellows to you. The list that my colleague
sent to you yesterday is the entire group; It is inevitable ,
however, that some will not be able to make the trip; I can give you
the final list on the phone by Wednesday the 13th if you need it.
Of course, the one foreign national in the group,
will not attend the briefing.
and

As I mentioned to you on the phone this morning, the International
Fellows of Columbia University are mal'ng their semi-annual trip to
Washington, D.C. on Thursday, October 21 t and we would greatly appreciate
if if you could arrange a briefing for us from 2:00 to 4:30 p,m. in the
auditorium. Last year, the Fellows very much enjoyed our briefing by
Mr. Hans Heymann National Intelligence Officer, and the panel discussion
on China with and others from the Office of
East Asian Ana ysis.
As you may recall, the International Fellows are fifty of Columbia's
most outstanding graduate students, selected for their achievements and
leadership potential. They represent such academic and professional fields
as political science, history, business, law, and journalism, and participate
in a unique interdisciplinary course in international politics and foreign
policy. Twice each yearthey are privileged with visits to Washington for a
series of briefings with officials of public and private institutions concerned
with international affairs. Enclosed is a current bulletin describing in
further detail the Fellows and their activities. Please feel free to write
or call if you have any questions.
It is our hope that your analysts will find another discussion with
the Fellows stimulating and enjoyable. They would certainly consider it a
valuable and rewarding experience.
Very truly yours,
