We sincerely appreciate your participation in the group interview seg-
ment of the 1980 Hope College Washington May Term.
The quality of this course is entirely dependent upon the willingness of
individuals such as yourself to spend some of their valuable time with a
group of students. Our interview at the CIA was most informative. My
conversations with participants indicate that the interview led to a
greater appreciation of the agency's role in U.S. national security.
Your contact with our students is not only commendable but also an
effective means by which they may improve their understanding of our
governmental system.
Again, thank you for your time and best wishes in your new position.
Sincerely,

This letter is to request that you participate in the 1980 Hope College
Washington, D.C. May Term Program.
The Washington May Term course involves group interviews with a number
of persons at two to four organizations involved in a particular area of
public policy. We have found that this gives students a feel for the
issues and an appreciation of different viewpoints.
The eleven student participants in the May Term travel to Washington,
D.C. for three weeks of these interviews. The group primarily includes
sophomores and juniors with majors in political science, although a
variety of disciplines are represented.
At present we are planning to look at U.S. intelligence needs as one of
these policy areas. We would like to visit and interview at your organi-
zation's Washington office from 1:00; m. o 2:00 p.m. on Tt Gdav May
20 ? 4Q If this time and date are convenient, p ease call or write a
confirmation to my address below. I then will contact the appropriate
person at your office to finalize arrangements. If this time conflicts
with your schedule and you would like to arrange an alternate date,
please let me know as soon as possible.
Thank you for your consideration of this request and I know the group
hopes to be able to visit your office.
