Now that the work of our Committee is finally ended, I want
very simply to say to you from the bottom of my heart -- thank
you for the very outstanding job you performed with the Committee.
If the report has validity and future utility it is in very
large part due to your contribution.
Personally, I don't see how you ever found the time or the
energy to give to such an assignment. In any event, I am deeply
grateful that you did and the President feels likewise as is
indicated in the last paragraph of his letter to me of 9 January
1961 which has been made public.
I hope our paths will cross in the days ahead and I wish you
the best of all things in the years to come.
