It will be a pleasure and a privilege to
accept your kind invitation extended in your letter of
May 31 to meet the members of the Committee on the
National Security Organisation at 2:00 in the after-
noon of June 8.
I will be prepared to present at that time
a brief outline of the organizatioit.and functions of
the National Security Council. I shall also be glad
to discuss the Central Intelligence Agency fron my
particular vantage point. I should like to suggest
however that, since CIA is a separate agency,
operating only. under general direction of the
National Security Council, you may wish to call upon
A iral Hillenkoetter to present a more complete
picture of the organization and functions of his
agency.
As requested by you, I am designating Mr.
James S. Lay, Jr., Assistant Executive Secretary, as
National Security Council liaison with your Committee.
Admiral Hillonkoetter has advised me that he is
designating as Central Intel-
ligence Agency liaison with your Committee.
