THE CITADEL
THE MILITARY COLLEGE OF SOUTH CAROLINA
CHARLESTON. S. C.
OFFICE OF
THE PRESIDENT
CONFIDENTIAL
Mr. Allen W. Dulles, Director
Central Intelligence Agency
Washington, D. C.
I have your telegram of January 15 and have
noted carefully its contents.
I saw Senator McCarthy briefly on my last visit
to Washington. He had prepared certain typewritten material
which he said referred in some instances to affairs of your
agency. I left by plane for Charleston immediately after
the conference and have not had an opportunity to go over
this material. I will do so and if there is anything which
seems to require immediate attention on your part, you can
rest assured that I will discuss the information with you.
I'll be coming back to Washington shortly, and
we'll have a chat. I agree fully that should data come
into my hands which appears to require immediate remedial
action on your part, you should have the opportunity to
initiate such action.
