Abstract: Sulfohydrolysis of the cyclic ethylenemethylamidophosp1lite of
1,2-isopropylideneglycerine gave methylcolaminoglyceropitosphothionophospfiite.
Based on this product a novel analog of natural glyceralihospholipids was
obtained containing a thiophosphoryl group and. a phosphorus-carbon bond in
its structure. A new synthetic route for, 3-N-methyletiTylei,,eamidothiono-
phosphate was developed started from 1,2-isopropylideneg;,lycerine thiono-
phosphite. - It was shown that,the sulfohydrolysis of ethylenetoethylamido-
phosphites is different from the.hydrolysis process.

Abstract: The reaction of 1,2-isopropylideneglyceryiethylene methyl phosphite
(I)-with chloral and methyl iodide was investigated, the.reactions yielding
respectively 8,8-dichlorovinyl-N-methyl-N-$-chloroethylainidophosphate and
N-methyl-N-0 -iodoethylme thylphos phonate: of 1,2-wisopropylideneglycerine.
Alcoholysis of (1) yields unsymetric phosphites which undergo ring-chain
-tatitomerism. . The phosphites obtained were.used in Perkov andiArbuzov

Abstract: Navel analogues of natural N-methylcephaline have been synthe-
sized. A mixture of 2 g distearoylglycerine and 0.79 g hexaethyltriamide
of phosphorous acid was heated in 20 ml benzene for 5 hrs at 900, the
solvent removed, and the residue recrystallized to yield tetraethyldiamid-
aphosphite of 1,2-distearoylglyce-rine (1), m.p. 61-62". (1) heated in
..benzene with N-methylcolamine yields 3-N-uie thy 1e thyleneairtidoph asphl te of
112-distearoylglycerine (11), m.p. 67-68*. Adding sulfur to a benzene
solution of (II) at 20* converts it to 3-N-metliylctliylene.3midotliione-
phosphate of 1,2-distearoylglycerine, m.p. 62.5-63'. Adding 0.075 g of
chloral to 0.32 g (11) in 5 ml benzene and 'Keeping the mixture for 3 hra
at 20* yield.3-0,6-dichlorovinyl-0-cliloroetliyleneaittidophosphate of 1,2-

Abstract: The Dhosphorylation reaction of Dhosohorus-containing
C-6-11-U-10-se esters by thion-and thiolderivatives of phosnhorus acids
is described. The objective of the study was the synthesis of
the corresponding acid chlorides: phosphoinis thiochloride (PSC13),
butyl thiodichloroDhosDhite (CII~193PQ12), di-but-yl dithiochloro-
phosphite (C4HpS)2PC1) and eth-yl butylthiochlorophosphonite, as
well as the ef~ecta of reaction conditions (time, trea'tment
temperature, solvents) on the P content in the synthesized

Abstract: Concentrations of metallic ions in Gluzman brotb, used Industrially
in producing A and B botulism antigens 'were,determined prior to,and up to 7
days after seeding with botulism agent., and 21 days after 2-veek storage of 7-
day cultures at 4-50C- Iron, copper, and cobalt concentrations decreased
significantly during the 7 days after seeding. Cold storaE-,e had.no effect on
iron andcopper concentrations. Experiments:indicated that, cobalt is utilized
in Vitamin % flynthezis particularl,)r intenoively (ittring tox-in forwition.
Reduction of metallic ion concentrations wais , accompanied by increarcr, in toxicity
and r6;te: of antigen formation. These results:inaicate that iron. copper, and
cobalt-are necessary in maintaining,normal vital processes of botuli--m agents.

Translation: A study of the influence of shaft rotation rate on output
signal of an inductive current-vortex convertor is performed in order to de-
termine quantitatively the change in convertor parameters, and characteris-
tics. A description and diagram are presented of an installation for this
investigation. The dependences produced provide an overall qualitative pic-
ture for estimation of the influence.of shaft rotation rate on convertor
characteristics and a particular quantitative picture for the convertor
selected. The studies performed allow it to be concluded that increasing
the shaft rotation rate causes an apparent increase in clearance between
shaft and convertor. The degree of.distortion increases with decreasing
clearance and increasing frequency and currcnt of the convvrto~. 2 Figures;

Abstract:-In this paper, the authors propose an improvement to a
sys.fem.they.offered in an earlier paper.IF. F. Mende, et al, Pri-
bo'rvi tekhnika eksperimenta,.No 31 1967). The earlier system was
a:frequency-stabilizing device using a,uhf amplifier with inter-
mediate frequency amplification and atplitude modulation. L'hile
the amplifier had good phase characteristics and 1jigh Expain, the
amplitude modulator limited the output,signal'sin6e it was not
designed for high power at the high modulation frequencies. The

f.amplilier offered in the present papet.uses frequency modula-
tion of the reference oscillator and has no amplitude modulator,
thus avoiding the defect of the former model. Alblock,diagram of

Abstract: Two types of discriminator in which the error signal is at the
Intermediate frequency are proposed, the authors claimin,~, for them freedom
from difficulties encountered with such discriminators si~.ggested by earlier
work. The first circuit uses a parallel connection of the amplitude modulator
and the standard resonator, such that the oignal from the tunable oscillator is
one of them containing the attenuator and modulator,
divided into two channelsi,
to which the i-f signal from the i-f oscillator is also applied, the other with
the standard resonator and phase shifter. Both thei-f lind variable oscillator
produce'the i-f error'signal. Me second
signals are combined in a mixer to
circuit, using a.series connection of amplitude,modulator and~standard resona,4
tor, eliminates some defects inherent in the first., Both circuits are analyzed,

Abstract: The objective of the study was to elaborate a conditioned instru-
mental reaction in one dog, which would discontinue painful stimulation of a
partner do.S. For this purpose, two dogs were placed in two separate cages somie
2 ft apart. A painful electrical current vas delivered to the hind leg of the
'yelp. Me obverver'dog could switch
victim dog, causing it to pant, Vnine, and.
the current off by lifting its left front paw vhichvas attached to a lever.
Three out of six observer dogs learned to perform this opuration. EEG and EKG
revealed synchronization of theta rhythm in the dorsal hi-ppocaz-1pus and acceler-
ated heart rate in the observer dogs duxing'excitation of~the victim dogs. It
is.concluded that the defensive excitation of the victim dog- sets the observer
dog into a state of emotional stress which acts as the reinforcing factor in
the elaboration of an instrumentalireaction.

Abstract: 1-(Indolyl-3')-2-alklaminoethanoli~, were synthesized by hydrogenating
the corresponding N- substituted 3-aminoacet~lindoles, using 4aney nickel as
acatalyst. The resultant amino alcohols were converted to salts (chlorohy-
drates or adipinates) which were pharmacologically studiedi The initial 3-
alkylaminoacetylindoles were produced by interacting 3-chlaroacetylindole or
3-bromoacetylindole with primary or.secondary amines. The physicochemical
roperties of the 3-alkylaminoacetylindoles and l-(indo1yl--3')-2-a1kylamino-
ethanols are tabulated. It was found that all amino alcohols containing the
secondary amino group have sympathomimetic. Properties: they increase arterial
blood pressure in rats and cats under.anesthesia,.cause contraction of the
nictitating membrane, and constrict phe peripheral veoae1a.',:Thi$ effect is

Abstract: An integrator with code conversion of the magniLude of the magnetic
flux to pulse number code is investlgated.~ The device is based on a ballistic
galvanometer with a photomask at the input of a special amplifter. It permits
complete automation of the process of measuring magnetic~;induction with the re-
sults obtained in digital form: the ballistic -kick, of the galvanometer is coa-
verted to a proportional number of pulses by means of the three dimensional
coding converter (photomaski on the instrument scale. Reco=nendations are
made with respect to selecting the light sensitive transducer and the pulse
amplif ierj. and experimentally calculated characteristics of- the integrating
device are 2resented.

oinositol. Me compound is separated into antipodes through dinstereomeric
orthoesters vrith D-mannose. Complete synthesis of the 1-phosph,~te of sn-iWoin-
ositol identical to the netural.compound is carried out on.the basis of 2,3,4-
5,6-penta-0-benzyl-sn-rVoinositol.

hexanone in amhydrous benzene in presence~of,sulfurzic acid. Treatment of (1)
with-p-toluenesulfonyl chloride yields o-to~syl-1,2;-3,4-~licyclohe)wlidene-D-
galactose (II), which reacts with sodium iodide in dimethy1formaraide to give
6-iodo-6-desoxy-1,2;3,4-diviclohe)cylidene-D-galac;tose (11,!). The lipid -noiety
used in further condensation was the diben~yi ester of 1,.2-distearoylglyceryl-
-3-phosphoric acid (V), vhich was obtained
'by condensation of glycerine-1,2-
distearoyl-3-iodo-hydr:Lne with the silver salt of dibenzyL phosphate. Anionic

..Abstract: The modern possibilities of spectoscopy of an optically dense
plasma are analyzed and reviewed. Primary attention is given,to calculating
the Intensity distribution 1(v) with respect to the rep soraed spectral line,

Abstracts: An outline is given of the results of recent, research conducted by
the All Union Scientific Research Institute, or Veterinary Sanitation. Some of
the practical and theoretical accomplishments are., (a) synthesis of 5 disin-
fectants (Caspos, demp, molaran, -~gudronoi,, hypochior); (b) electron microscope
study of the effects of different classes of disinfectants (alkalies, acids,
chlorine preparations) on bacterial cells .(E. coli, Salmonella, Staphylococei)
(c) discovery that soil can be completely or partly disinfected by growing
timothy and sureet clover; (d) development of methods for,;disinfecting wool and
hides by means of gases (ethylene oxide,.mthyl bromide); and (e) successful
.testing of.various gases (ethylene oxide,,methyl bromidej war gases) and gamma
rays to combat some bee diseases (fouibrood-:noqema~disease, Isle of Wight dis-
ease) found in hives.
