At different periods, sarnplNi wvre taken and the presence of live rickettsia was demonestrated by inoculatinn of Chick vt-abryos and guinea-pigs (CFT). It *ati establithed that It. burniqj nurvtye in milk for 125 days at room temperature and not lesit than 273 days at 4' C. Pautourization (60-65' C. for 30 mir., 85* C. for 15 min.) does not kill Q-fever organiitas in milk. In mM R. burneti survived MWC.for thour;at 100*C.theydied inane minute. In kephir, clotted sour milk and acidophillne rickettsiae siurvived for one day. R. burneti survived in 57# solution of lactic acid for 20 hr. Atcordirq to the author. they die In clotted sour milk and acidophULne not because at high acidity but due to a depressant action of Bacillus bulgaricus and acidophilus.
