ABSTRtiCT: This Author Certificate presents a method for obtaining hoat-re3isting
polyarylatbs by treating linoar saturated thermoplastic polyarylatoo (based on bis-
phenols and dicarboxylic acids) with novolak or formaldohydo. To expand the as3ort-'
ment of heat-revisting materials, polyarylates based on phonolphthaloin and dicar-
boxylic acids are used as linear saturated thermoplastic polyarylates.
