(Opredeleniye elektricheskikh nagruzok gorrVkh predpriyatiy)
PERIODICAL: Promyshlennaya Energetika, 1958 Vol ~13 No-3,
pp. ~4 - C-7 tSSR)
ABSTRACT: Existing methods of calculating the electrical loading
of mining undertakings are usually empirical and inexact. The
demand factor is a widely-used criterion, but is not sufficient
for all practical requirements; it gives an idea of heating of
equipment, but not of voltage drop or power loss. Use of the
load factor is apt to give calculated loads that are too high.
The most accurate method of load determination is that based on
analysis of load curves. Graphs of electrical loading can be
derived from operating cycles of machines only in relatively
simple cases and the method is hardly applicable to more diffi-
cult cases.
A simple and well-founded method of constructing load curves is
based on the theory of probability. Any load curve can be
reduced graphically to the form shown in Fig.1 if its ordinates
are arranged in diminishing or increasing order. This re-
arranged diagram faithfully reflects the properties of the load
Cardl/3 curve shown in Fig.la, which can be characterised by a mean

load and form-factor. In practice, it is not necessary to
construct the loading diagrams graphically if the mean load
and the form-factor are known. The conclusion of G.M.Kayalov
that the form-factor of electric load curves is stable if the
output of the installation is unchanged is alsoalid for
mining works. Mean values of the form-factors of loading
diagrams of mine and quarry sub-stations derived experimentally
by the author are tabulated. The principles of construction
of load diagrams are also applicable to the output graphs of
mines and quarries.
Summation of the maximum loads of a large number of electrical
appliances leads to over-estimation of total load; it is
best to summate the mean loads as determined by Watt-hour and
reactive power integrating meters. Very reliable values of
mean loading can be obtained from standards of electric power
consumption per unit output. Such figures have been worked out
for almost all branches of the mining industry. Given these
figures, the apparent mean power for a shop or complete under-
taking is easily determined by a formulal which is stated. A
further formula is given for power-factor determination.
The effective current over a long period cannot be used to
Card2/3 calculate the cross-section of conductors (when this is based
94-3-13/26
Determination of the Electrical Loads of Mining Undertakings
on heating) or the size of transformers. This is because
these oomponents may heat up in a comparatively short time.
The law of probable distribution can be used to determine the
peak load given the mean load and the form-factor of the
loading curve. A formula is quoted for current determination
and the same can be done for kVA. The calculations are made
for a time of thirty minutes peak load. If the peak load is
of some other duration, the (alculations may be based on the
curves given in Fig.2.

Orig Pub : V sb.: Uslovnopatogen. mikroby i ikh roll v zabolevaniyakh
al'imentarn. proiskhozhdeniya. L., Medgiz, 1956, 62-65
Abstract : A method is suggested which permits exact and rapid dosage
of given amounts of toxin. On an empty stomach, 1 ml of
toxin is given in the morning to mice weighing 10-15 gm.
directly into the esophagus with the aid of a smill cannu-
la bent at an angle of 1350 attached to a syringe by a rub-
ber tube. The result is considered positive when intoxica-
tion appears in mice within 4-6 hours after toxin introduc-
tion or when they die in 24 hours. Enterotoxic action of
staphylococcus toxin depends on its hemolytic titer.

Mice react on introduction of toxins which possess a hemo-
lytic titer of 1:1000--1:5000. Tests were made with ente-
rotoxic staphylococei toxins which caused food poisoning.
Toxins were obtained on 0.75% agar from calf bouillon on
cultivation in an atmosphere containing 20% C02, with sub-
sequent centrifuging of extracts of agar cultures. Most
of the toxins had a hemolytic titer of 1:5000- It was
shown that mice are sensitive to enteric introduction of
staDhylococcus toxin when the method of introduction of
suggested by the author was used.

Abstract iTwelve strains of proteus isolated from food toxins and
examined food products were studied. From their bioche-

species: Proteus v-ulgaris (64), 0. mirabilis (124), P.

were tested for their hemolytic activity (HA) by inocula-
