TEMI: The artiole describes experiments conducted under the supervi.sion of
BHV14CT (VNIIST) pertaining to a new m5thod of InBulating reinforced concrete
reservoirs for storing gasoline, using cement-latex compounds as insulati-on and
adhesive substance for the application of a vinyl plastic film. Insulation was
applied on four reinforced concrete res6rvoirs of different capacitj.e~. RF_5t-.r-
voirs No. 6, 11 and 13 had a oapacity of 4.5 m3 each and No. 3 of 210 m" As
basic insulation on all reservoirs a cerrent-latex compound was applie-1, !ontain.-
ing butadiene-nitrile latex CM-1-40 (sKN-4o), Port1and cement grade 1100 ind sta.-
bilizer consisting of casein glue B -107 (V-107) in powdered form, wtLic), is used
to prevent, latex from coagulating when mixed with cement. Lasting contet.~t of ga-

gasoline. For this reason reservoirs 3 and 11 had, in addition to the cement-
latex insulation, a vinyl plastic film applied on top; this material Is being
obtained by means of thermics plastification of polyvinyl chloride resin,. The
article describes the met-hod of preparing the cement-latex compoun(i which is ap-
plied to the concrete with a brush; a spray-gun can aleo be used. For these ex-
periments from 9 to 26 layers were applied. ReservoirA 3 and 11 w,~re LWL-d with
a vinyl plastic film in addition to the cement-latex Insulation. Reservoir No.
6 received 4 extra coatings of Japan 60T made from poly-vinyJ.butyra'1 and cresol.-
formaldehyde resin, while reservoir No. 13 had 4 coatingo of Japan bazed on resin
Ce)X-40 (SVIM-40). Ins-alation being completed, the reserqoirs were filled orith
gasoline A-72, wh:1 oh was kept in the reeervol rs for 1. year. Af 4,-.--r this period

TEXT: In order to out down the annealing of malleable cast iron, specimens
and components weighing between 0,6 and 48 kg with a wall thickness In the range
of 5 - 40 mm were cast from melts with an increased Si-content and Te-additions.
In order to delay graphitization during the solidification of cast iron, Te
together with Fe31 was brought on the bottom of the ladle in quantities of 0.01
and 0.02%, with Si-contents of 1.8 and 2.2% respgctively. The-following
annealing conditions existed: heating up to 950 C for ; hours, soaking for 6
hours at 950 0+ 100C, temperature reduction down to 780 C during 2 hours,
reduction down to 720 0C during 12 hours, soaking at 700-720 0C during 13 hours

and reduction to 6800C for 2 hours. The total duration amounted to 35 hbirs.
With a Cr-content of OA6, the heating up to 950 0C is prolonged bY 5 hours
while soaking at 700-720 C increases by 6 hours. The optimum C-content wt~.s
established to be 1.7 - 2.6%, the optimum Si-content 1.8-2.5% while the Cr-contatt
should not exceed O.OE%. The sum of C + Si = 3.8 - 4,5%. A Cr-content o.f up
to 0.2% is permissible if the Si-content is increased, based on the ratio of
0.02% of Si for every 0.01% of Cr. A considerable difference in fluidity bqtween
ordinary and high-silicon cast iron could not be detected. Linear shrinks4.5e
is the same for high-silicon and ordinary cast iron, while volumetric shri3ikage
is somewhat greater in the former. The cost for 1 ton of high-silicon mal'.eable
cast iron vras reduced by 100 rubles on account of a reduction in annealing time.

agricultural machinery in the winter. More than 2000.tractors,and 1000-odd trucka
were in operation on farvis 'ira the Aktyubinskaya Oblast last winter. Experience alt the
Yaysanskiy sovkhoz showed nearly a triple increase in the use of spare parts during
the winter. There is also a drop in the production capacity and efficiency of agri-
cultural equipment during the winter. Recommendations are made for winterizing trac-
tors and trucks.. Hot water should be used for warming up the engine3 where heated
garages are not available. The use of heating jackets is recommended. Special wi' nter
diesel fuel may be used which is heated to .1000C before priming, When the ambient.
temperature falls below zero, winter diesel fuel and lubricating oil should be used.

,At tempe ratures below -100, 1% tractor kerosene should be added to the diesel fuel
for each degree of negative temperature. Under extreme cold conditions, the diesel
oil in the crank case should be thinned with winter diesel fuel. This fuel should be
added in quantities of 1% for every 3 elegrees of negative temperature. The transmis-
