Abstract: 06 H5 CONHCCH2 COOR (I), where R = CH31 C2 H51
CH(CH3)2, or CH2 C6 H5 (Ia), as well as the
ester of the peptide Zs-i-o7 C6 H5 CONEM2 CONHCH-

Abstract; in CH3 COOH and HBr (1 mol I per 1.5 mol HBr).
2-, 3-, or 4-, CH3 CONHC6 H4 COOR are not cleaved
under the qbove-indicated conditions, while
C6 H5 COOR is cleaved with difficulty and C H XH 2
COOR is cleaved relatively easily. The format on
of C6 H5 CH2 OCOCH3 in the reaction with Ia in-
dicates that the aoidolysis is effected by CH3
COOH (the presence of small amounts of water has
no practical effect on the course of the reaction.

Abstract: benzoic acid. An anological reaction was conduc-
ted by heating acetanilide with C C13COOH that
yielded 80% of trichloracetanilide. Application
of this reaction to the peptides showed that N-
-benzol-DL-lycylglycine breaks down into N-benzoyl-
DL-lycine (87% yield) and N-acetylglycine, while
hippurylglycine, phthaloyl-DL-phenylalanylglycine
and phthaloylglycine-DL-phenylalanine do not enter
reaction. The described overacylation reaction
may be presented by the following general formula:
RICONHR + RIICOOH-* ~R'ICONHR + RICOOH.

ABSTRACT: The following forging equipment employed in the mechanization of
bench operations and machining-assembly work is described: 1) A
press for dismantling of press-fitted components during the repair of
equipment; the employment of this press at the ChTZ [ Chelyabinsk
Tractor Plant I not only facilitates the work of the operators but also
results in a saving of metal owing to the reutilization of mated com-
ponents made possible thereby, 2) A device (D) employed at the
Chebarkull metallurgical plant for raising of anvil blocks which are
too heavy to be lifted by a crane; a crane-type D for changing the
head of a drop hammer; a D employed at the ChTZ for polishing
anvil blocks equipped with a mechanism for advancing the support,

ABSTRACT: The properties of blends of various proportions of epoxy and phenolic
resins were examined to select the optimum composition for graphite impregnation.
15, 30 50j, 60 and 70 weight% of liquid epoxy resin ED-6 (containing 16-17% epoxy

resin (Stokea viscositY of 5 seconds, 160 second eel time). The compositions were
hardened at IX~-140C for 10 bourn at 6 atm. pressure. Blends containing 50-60%
epoxy had, the highest acid and alkali resistance; over 50 epoxy lowered the
mechanical strength. Cold-molded graphite (density = 1.46 gm/cm3, porosity 32.W,.)
