G.; Tartyalashvili, M. G.; Wrishvili, T. V& ORG: none TITLE: Surface tension of AN-291 and AN-292 fluxes SOURCE: Avtomaticheakayo avarka, no 11, 1965, pp 77-78 TOPIC TAGS: electroslag melting flux, surface tension, fluorine, metal melting/ AN-291 electroslag melting flux, AN-292 electroslag melting flux ABSTRACT: Surface effects at the metal-slag and metal-gas Interfaces are of major significance to the course of the electroslag melting of metals underneath synthetic "lags. Hence it is important to know theme meters of these effects and their dependence on the chemical composition 0 mametal and slag, as well as on the ambient medium. Until recently CaF,,Z ha been a principal component of the fluxes used in welding and electroslag melting~-'Now, however, that the Ye. 0. Paton Institute of Electric Welding-FW-adeveloped fluorine-free fluxes (based on CaO- -Al203-MgO)l it was of interest to compare surface tension for these fluxes wit1k surface tension for fluorine-containing fluxes (based on CaF241203-CaO-Mg-O)e 1/2 UDC: 621.791.04 32684-66 ACC NR, AP6012286 Accordingly, surface tension of the-F-containing AN-291 flux was compared with that of the F-free AN-292 flux by determining the maximum pressure in the gas bubble (for description of the test method, cf. S. Bo Yakobashvili at al.. Avtometichaskaya evarka, no 8, 1965) with the aid of corundum capillaries of 4.5 mm diameter which were plunged into the melt to a depth of 5 mm. Surface tension Cr was determined from the formula rg 2 r9 1 r292 a P, -- 6 Lpp7-), where r is the inside radius of the capillary, cm; g is the acceleration due to gravity, cm/sec2; P is the maximum pressure in the bubble, cm H 0, and Or is the density of slag at a given temperature, g/cm3. on this basis ii is found that the surface tension of the flux AN-291 is lower (430 dynes/cm) than that of the fluorine- free flux AN-292 (610 dynes/cm). The reason for this difference is that the presence Of CaF2 in the flux AN-291 causes the appearance of weak F' ions which weaken th- bond between the surface ions and the bulk of the melt and thus reduce surface tension. LAPJA. 1954, 17/2 (71-76) Illvs. 4 An attempt is made to give a ccnclusive answer to the question whether so-called 'pre-invasive cancer' of the cervix uteri Is alreacky carcinoma and must be treated as such or whether it should b;~, regarded as an atypical cell-growth that only in a few instances chanEes into real cancer. With the fluorescence in microscope the Jn,!er structure of the cells can be seen better than in haerratoxylin-eosin stained slides. In the ahthors' opinion the picture of pre-invasive carcinoma is exactly the same as what is seen in real invasive cancer, in so-called ipre-carci-nomal cne sees very gradual transitions from not yetrmjjL~pant cell t,,pesto certainly carcinomatous cells. in these cases the UV picture reveals 2 different types of cells not discernible with the usual staining methods. A closer investigation into this matter is still in progress. Possibly tkis difference foms the key to the differential diagnosis. Abstract: The scintigrams were taken by using red blood corpuscles tagged with radioactive Cr-51 isotope. The optimum duration of heatitreatment for tha corpuscles was determined empirically in each case. The scinti- grams were taken by a Siemens nucleograph with the patient Ifying on his side. The scintigrams were essentially identical regardless pf time taken in the 1-24 hour period following administration of the admit_ istration of the Cr-containing saline solution. The experiences based on the prepa- ration of 23 scintigra= were discussed. lUe technique was nd to be useful. 10 reference*, including 2 German and 8 Wastorn. .% I L 11 ACcount 01 the work of tile Permanent Committee oo Physici3ts.11 Kozlemenyei, BudLPESt, Vol 3, '10 3, 1953, P. 311 JO: Eastern EuropeLn Accessions List, Vol 3, IrTo 10, Oct 1954, Lib. of Conpress TARIVERDI3EV, Le; YAKHNIKAO N. "Experiences in the Scintigraphic Examination of the Spleen" Budapest, Orvosi Hetilap, Vol 107, No 29, 17 Jul 1966, pp 1360-1362. 311 JO: Eastern EuropeLn Accessions List, Vol 3, IrTo 10, Oct 1954, Lib. of Conpress
