PERIODICAL: Standartizatsiya, 1958, Er 4, pp 8 - 11 (USSR)
ABSTRACT: General information is presented on the organization of
specialized production of parts for radio-electronic de-
vices. Proper conditions in this field were created by
the organization of sovnarkhozes. First of all, the pro-
duction of items requiring similar technological work pro-
cesses must be started. which later on can be unified and
then normalized. It is recommended "hat new items be pro-
duced to renlace existing parts; e.g. the production of a
new series of ui-ified high-frequency plug-connectors (fig..
3) which can be applied to any device and rerlace plug-con-
rectors of previous design which cannot be normalized. The
size of specialized enterprises also has to be taken into
consideration, for a too expanded concentration could en-
Card 1112 tail difficulties in the reorganization. It is suggested

Complement-fixation using high dilution of antigen and a relatively large quan-
tity of complement and incubation at +40 C. for 15-18 hr. is a method which
keeps perfect sensitivity and specificity in detecting specific antibodies, aA as
long as an antigen of low capacity is not used it is a system of considerable
stability. It is well known that allantoic fluids of chick embryos infected with
influenza viruses may be used as antigens in complement-fixation. It is s".own
here that there exists correlation between their haernagglutination titre and the
titre of complement -fixing antibodies; thus it is possible to determine the
antigenic capacity of allantoic fluids which are to be used in complement-fix-
ation by means of haemagglutination. If we dilute allantoic fluids so that they
contain 160-320 haemagglutination units in 0.5 ml. they represent a suitable
antigen for complement -fixation because these dilutions correspond to 32-64 U.
of antigen, which is the optimal dilution of antigen for the determination of
specific antibodies by means o( complement -fixation. Similarly an with the in-
fluenza viruses these findings may also be applied for the work with the mumps
virus (amniotic fluid).

The gnats Culex pipiens pipiens, C. pipiens molestus, Aedes vexans and Anophe-
les messeae, are allowed to become infected through the sucking of pads soak-
ed with blood or mash of mouse brain containing the virus of the Czechoslov-
akian tick encephalitis. This virus retained its infectiousness within the gnats
i for 2 days only. This wa--- proved through intracerebral transmission of squash-
ed gnats on to mice weighing 10-12 g. No multiplication of this virus was ob-

Adaption of the Czech tick encephalitis virus to embryonated eggs was achieved
by using Infected mouse brain for inoculation. The virus could be passaged by the
allantoic, chorioallantoic or yolk SG.C Toute. Only tiny lesions of the chorioall-'
antoic membrane are produced within 3 days after inoculation, Highest titres were
obtained by the 2 latter methods. The antigenic stability. of the adapted material
was followed over 60 passages while a certain loss of pathogenicity for mice occur-
red after 70 passages. No differences were demonstrable between the viruses of
louping III, Russian spring-summer encephalitis and Czech encephalitis so far as
chick embryo infection is concerned. Hennessen - DUsseldorf

ABSTRACT: Type:F of ingot moulds and methods of their placing on mould
bottoms used on the Zaporozhstal@ Works are outlined and
illustrated and the influenze of the above factors on the
mould life is discussed. It is concluded that placing of
moulds on -the bottom in one row and with a close approach
of the wide -"aces to each other, sharply decreases the
,.i@irabili-ty of the moulds. The formation of transverse
@aracks !@an be prevented by a corresponding increase in the
wall th.-Lckness of wide faces of ingot moulds. This can be
achle, red most economically by a spherical shape of the
outside surface of the walls. With a correct ratio of the
width of wide and narrow faces and smooth transitions the
introduction of spherical thickening of wide faces
decreases the consumption of various ingot moulds by
11-2476. The durability of mould bottoms depends on the
Cardl/2 distribution of ingots and teeming troughs, sharply
