The most satisfactory dental alloys consist of silver 62-64, palladium 28-30, gold 4-5, and copper 2%. The m.p. is about 1200*C., the Brinell hardness 62, and the other mechanical properties approach those of the usual gold alloys. No darkening with H2S or solubility in mouth acids could be detected, and welding is readily carried out.
