Mekbanika zhidkosti i gaze, no. 2, 1966, 130-132 TOPIC TAGS: carbon dioxide, porosity ABSTRACT: The experiments were conducted in a specially built unit consistinz of a mercury press, a high pressure vessel with a porous medium thick wall vessels for mercury and air, standard manometers, -1c .`oi~ determination of the amount of eas in solution, a magnetic differential manometer, and a thermostat. A diagram of the equipment is shown. Tbe porous medium was quartz sandstone, previously washed and dried. The experiments were run on samples having an initial permeability of 0.1, 0.6, and 2.6 darcies. The experimental results are given in a table. These results include measurements of the dynamic saturation pressure, in the presence of a porous medium; it was found Card L 29855-66 ACC NR. AP6013212 Lo be 10-15 bar hiFher than the static saturation pressure, determined in the absence of a porous medium, and 5-10 bar higher then the static saturation pressure, determined in the presence of a porous medium. With an increase in the initial parmeability the effect of the porous medium on the value of the saturation pressure decreases. "The author thanks A. Kh. Acidol-50 was obtained from the alkaline residues of the neutralization of acid transformer, spindle and machine oils derived from Balakhna oils and Romashkin petroleums; the residues were allowed to stand for separation of the excess oil, treated with~ dilute H.2S04, and allowed to stand again, after which the Na2SO4 was removed and the mixture was boiled to,.,remove water. Soap naphtha was prepared from the aLka- C'Mne gesidues of the leaching of kerosenes and diesel fuels by sedimentation at L 25351-65 ACCESSION NR: AR4039577 75-80C to remove the oil followed by evaporative concentration. In order to ob- tain acidol soap naphtha,.after the oil was, remoyed from the alkaline residues of at 60-65% the leaching of kerosenes and diesel fuels, they were treated with H2S04 mixed with air and concentrated by evaporation. Distilled naphthenic acids were obtained by the vacuum distillation of acidol (from the alkaline residues of kerosene) by heating the raw material to 240-270C with a vacuum of 700-720 mm Hg (below atmospheric pressure) at the top of the column. Laboratory and industrial experiments demonstrated the possibility of utilizing the alkaline residues from the leaching of other oils and gasolineft to replace NaOH in the production of the deemulsifying agent NChK, A, R6~- SUB COM FF ENCLv 00 Card 212 Country ; USSR M CateZory: Cultivated Plants. An additional advantage of the com- bined observations iS that it is Dossible to determine an exact bearing of the epicentre by an application of the Card 1/5 SOVI 49-58-12-8/17 The Determination of the Group Velocity and the Bearing of Epi- centres, by Rayleigh Waves of 3 Adjacent Stations differential method based on the time difference between the first wave of the vibrations of the same type, It is necessary that the instruments of all three stations are iden- tical so that the seismograms are comparable. The frequency characteristics and the phase displacement with time are shown in Fig.!. In order to determine the group velocity of Rayleigh waves, the seismograms of the vertical seismographs of the three stations were analyzed for the 4 earthquakes, 3 in the area of the kleutian Islands and 1 in the Kuril Islands. Fig.2 shows the registrations made on the 22 March, 1957, starting at 15 hours, GMT. The detaills of the earthquakes are shown in Table 2, The determination of the velocity was found by every station (Fig.3). The -.relationship of the epicentre distance 6 1 and the time difference between the appearance of vibrations and the moment of the earthquake can be taken as a group velocity Ci (T) , for the given period (Eq.3). The experimental points were plotted (Fig.3)., Card 3/5 SOVI 4 9-58-lt-8/17 The Determination of the Group Velocity and the Bearing of Epi- 3entres, by Rayleigh Waves of 3 Adjacent Stations which formed a curve (Eq.4). From this equation and the period Eq.(5), the formula.(6) can be found. By substitut- ing it in Eq.(3) the relation of group velocity to the period can be expressed as C. = 0.(T). As an example, the data of the earthquake on MarcA 1?,1195?, are shown in Fig.4. The values of the group velocities for all 4 earthquakes are shown in Table 3. The azimuth of the epicentres were calculated by various methods. The results of calculations are shown in Table 4. Seysmicheskiye issledo- vaniya, no. 6, 1965, 77-83 TOPIC TAGS: Rayleigh wave, earthquake, seismologic station, seismic wave, wave velocity ABSTRACT: Tbree analytical methods for determining the group velocities of Rayleigh waves are discussed and the results of their application to the wave dispersion fcom several earthquakes in the Pacific Ocean are evaluated. The separate determination o velocity for each oscillation, oscillation grouping and parabolic approximation meth- ods were applied to the evaluation of group velocity of earthquakes with epicenters in the equatorial and southern Pacific. Seismic data from each earthquake were eval- uated on the basis of seismograms from the Kirovabad and Goris stations separated by a distance of 126 km. The study shows velocity determination by the separate method to be precise and objective. The average thickness of the earth's crust is 36 km for the Caucasus, Kamchatka, and the Kurile Islands, 30 km for the Japan and the Samoan Islands, and 34 km for Santa Cruz and New Britain, the Yellow Sea, and the South Chin 1/2 M ACC NRt 0 Sea. It is concluded that the experimental curves for the dispersion of surface Ray- leigh waves do not always lead to the correct evaluation of the mean structure of the earth's crust between an epicenter and the observation station. TITLE: The Determination of the Group Velocity and the Bearing of Epicentres, by Rayleigh Waves of 3 Adjacent Staticas (Opredelenl;ye skorosti voln Releya i napravleniya na epitsentr po trem blizkim stants-iyam) PERIODICAL: Izvestiya akademii nauk SSSRI Seriya geofizic~heskaja.., 1958, Nr 12, pp 1485-1490 (USSR) ABSTPLACT: By means of the experimental dispersion graphs of the group velocity of the Rayleigh type of waves, it is poosible to determine a mean thinknes& of the earth crust between an epicentre and the observing Z-tation, In order to determine the group velocity of the surface waves 1r, is sufficient to have the data of one station onij (Ref.1 '), but the a.,,curacy of such a determination will be much improved if three dif- ferent stations situated near each other can combine t-heir observations on the waves wt-ich can be considered as a para- llel in this condition. The investiga- tions were carried out based on the data collected from the three Caucasian stations, Goris, Kirovabad and Shemaha, The magnifications of their seismographs were indicated as static Vrab and dynamic U Thus for the harmonic vibration of: 2 Tt' x = A exp i - the instrument registered.-. y = V U (T) A exp 1- Y) rab (2 ~# _/I~ The dynamical frequency U ar-d the phase characteristic y was determined by the Eqs,('L) and (2), where Tiand T2 Card 2/5 periods of seismograLh and galvanometer respectively, D1 SOVI 49-58-12-8/1-( The DeterminaLion of the Group Velocity and the Bearing of Epi- centres, by Rayleigh Waves of 3 kdjacent Stations and D 2 - the absorption constants, cr2 _ coefficient of rela-ba-anshi-D between the seismo-ra-ph and galvanometer,, The 0 c)nstant characteristics of the apparatus are shown in Table 1. The last row shows the values calculated by the formula (7), where AT12 and 6T 13 - differences between the first vibrations as registered by the three stations (17 25 3)~ P0 =_ 530180 at the point 1, and 0 = 900 at the point 2 (Fic.3, a It can be stated that the relation of the difference of the epicentral distances to the time difference of the first vibration at the station is eaual to the phase velocity of the waves of a given period. TEis velocity was determined for 2 distant earthquakes. The frequencies were also calculated from the effective rotation constants of the molecules and compared with the measured values. The agreement was generally good, and some discrepancies are attributed to centrifugal pertur- bation and internal rotation. M. Imanov and Ch. 0. Kadzhar, Doklady*7X9-)ae-rbbbK,11 v. 10, 861, 1961; Opt. i spektr. v. 14, 300, 1963) the authors in- vestigated the microwave spectrum of the 0-trideuteroethyl alcohol molecule using a radiospectrometer with electric molecular modula- tion (Imanov and Abdurakhimanov, Izv. AN AzerbSSR, 6. 79, 1963) in the 10--33 Gc range. More than 200 lines of the molecule were ob- Card 1/4 L 9485-66 ACCESSION NR: AP4043026 0 served and measured, and transitions of the Q, R, and P branches were identified by the Stark splitting- The frequencies were also calculated from the effective rotation constants of the molecules and compared with the measured values. The agreement was generally good, and some discrepancies are attributed to centrifugal pertur- bation and internal rotation. Each identified line had satellites, which could be accurately determined from the corresponding rotation constants. It is assumed.tbat these satellites belong to the first excited vibration state. orig. axt. hams 2 tables.
