Abstract [English su=aary modified]: Method involving injection of
Pb304, turpentine oil and liquid paraffin in equal parts, then
solidifying gelatine. This was used in studies on 180 heart specimens
since 1958 and gives as illustrated, excellent visualization of even
the very small cardiac coronary arteries. One plain and 3 angio-
cardiorentgenograms; 1 Western and 8 Soviet references.

ABSTRACT: Until recently there has been a lack of special equip-
ment for seam-welding iight alloys. Heavy welding currents are
required for this purpose and as the products are apt to be
large and the return circuits correspondingly long, welding
voltages and powers are high. In 1955, the "Elektrik" Works
produced a special machine for welding light alloys, type
MWWA-400-2, which has been somewhat modernised this year.
Technical and performance data for the machine are tabulated. It
takes 1 400 kVA from a 380 V, 3-phase circuit and is a further
development of type MTOQ impulse machines for spot-welding light
alloys.
During the process of welding, impulses of direct voltage and
alternating polarity of regulated duration are delivered to the
primary of the welding transformer by a power rectifier. It is
a bridge-connected 3-phase, full-wave rectifier using ignitrons,
Cardl/3tYP8 K-100/5 000 and has a stabilising device which maintains the

output voltage steady to within + 3%. The operation of the
stabilising devici?controlled by-an auxiliary 3-phase full-
wave rectifier. This is a replica of the main power recti-
fier; the oper,11tion of the stabilisation system can therefore
be evaluated from the readings of a voltmeter connected to the
output of the auxiliary rectifer. In order to explore the
operating properties of comn,utators, the machine at present
has two independent power commutators, one mechanical and one
of the ignitron type. A special control device mounted on the
same shaft as the mechanical co=utator controls the duration
and seauence of the welding current impulses.
The circuit of the com-rutator brushes and their operating
sequence are shown in Fig.1 and explained in the article. A
general vievi of the machine, vhich is of the conventional seam-
welding type with rollers, is -iven in Fig.2. A kineiiatic
diagram. of all ti-e drives and gearing appears in Fig-3 and is
explained. FiS. 4 shows -the circuit of the machine drive and
commutatinE, device and a full diagram of the supply and control
circuits is given in Fig-5. Themrious parts are explained at
length, including the supply arrangements and the stabiliser.
Tests were made of seam-welding conditions for light alloys,

lilachine type MwWW-400 for Seam-welding of Alu-ninium Alloys
brands A 16T and AM4U; the appearance of one of the welds is
photographed in Fig.6. It is concluded that machine
MD&A-400-2 produces a high-quality weld in large light-alloy
parts in thicknesses of 2.5 + 2.5 mm. Alloys type AMF can be
welded in thicknesses up to 3 + 3 mm. The d.c.-impulse prin-
ciple adopted in this machine ensures welds of good quality,
uses less power than an a.c. machine and gives balanced loading
on Uie three-phase system. The use of voltage stabilisation
gave uniform welds and the riachine is well adapted to mass

1B welding machine on low-carbon steel 1-2 mm thick. Electrical resistivity
was calculated from the formula:

was registered by the gliding contacts. The secondary current values were deter-
mined by multiplying the primary current value by the transformation coefficient.
.The study revealed that the nature of resistivity variation in the process of spot
welding differed between the first and subsequent spots. This was especially well
expressed in welding of tight seams, as described by A. S. Gellman (Kontaktnaya
elektrosvarka. Mashgiz, 1944). At the second point the resistivity decreased but
.the nature of its variation remained the same. A still greater variation was ob-
,served at -the third spot. The general nature of the resistivity variation could be~
established after the first four or five spots. The relation between the resistiv-,
ity and stress at the rollers was studied for steel thickness 1 + 1 MM and 1.5 +
1.5 Pm. The results showed that the ratio of the resistivity values obtained
during spot and seam welding lay within the limits 1.8-2.2. This ratio increased
with the increase in steel thickness. Different results were obtained in seam and

ABSTRACT: This paper is a continuation of the investigations of the
homogeneous domains with a zineblende structure in the
pseudobinary cross-sections of ternary systems which were
carried out in the Leningrad Physical and Technical Institute.
The results of the investigation of "he InAs - In 2Se 3- system
according to various methods show that in this system a num-
ber of solid substitution solutions are found ranging from

in the GaAs - Ga 2Se 3- system (Ref 5) the diffusion in the
solid state is obstructed in connection with the covalent
