TEXT7 The computational method suggested consists in dividing the expansion stroke into a numberofequal
zones, and in successively, determining the variation of tile gas conditions in each of these zones. For the
determination of gas conditions in any one zone, the author assumes the transition from the starting to tile
final state of the gas to correspond to adiabatic expansion and subsequent heat release at constant volume;
he further assumes the amount of heat, released at constant volume, to be equal to the actual heat loss in
the given zone ofexpansion.

TITLE: Demonstration of the change in magnitude and direction of alternating
current

TEXT: For the experiment, a step-up transformer with a transformation
coefficient of 1:20 supplied from the 2220 v mains is required. One end of the
step-up winding is connected with the body of an electroscope and the other with
a plug fastened to the end of a long insulated rod. When the plug is contacted
with the head of the electroscope, the latter is charged, and the indicator is
deflected through a certain angle. The following touches will either increase or
decrease this angle with equal probability. Detailed instructions concerning the
performance of the experiment and a thorough analysis of its results are given
proceeding from ideas on the nature of alternating current.

ABSTRACT: The Author examines the frontal drag of a net under conditions
of free seepage through the mesh as the sum of the drags of the
threads. He assumes the lifting force of a single thread (q), placed
at an angle ewith respect to.the flow, to be equal to q = r9o sin2

geometrical considerations he then arrives at the conclusion that

of the surface element in the follbwing form
